Super excited to announce that we will be performing at the 2016 Shadow Woods Metal Fest. Lid and I went last year and had a lot of great experiences and met a lot of new friends as well as had the great opportunity to hear some great music. Cant wait! ~Scan
We just completed a nice little 3 day trek with our buds in crime Heavy Temple. If your not familiar check out the link. They are a 3 piece that brings the psychedelic doom heavy as fuck. It was a great time. Our first show was at the Riffhouse in Chesapeake VA. You can see some cools shots and read a review here. It was a great warm up and we met some awesome people and had a blast. Our second show was in Charlottesville VA at the Ante Room, we played the Winters Ruin Metal fest. It was a full night of met. 8 Bands blasting it out to a hungry crowd. The general sentiment from the people was that Charlottesville just doesn’t get enough metal and they were really happy we could all come through. We had a […]
Im happy to announce that we will be enjoying the holiday with a great show at Girard Hall. We will be playing with 2 touring bands from Puerto Rico Zafakon & Calamity as well as Mob Terror (U.S.) We will be playing this coming Christmas Eve Eve. Lets do this!
Tracking is nearly complete for our next record. We will be releasing 8 songs this time around. We spent most of the summer refining and nailing down the foundation and have been putting the finishing touches on in fall. The record will be called “Forest of Ghosts” titled after one of the songs. We made the decision this time to track the record entirely ourselves. This brought on new challenges but also unlocked new abilities and understanding of the whole “studio” world. We will however be sending the record out to be mixed by another party we will reveal shortly. We plan on releasing the record early 2016 but will be playing a couple “warm up” shows before then. So if you see one listed come on out and hear the new tunes. ~Sean
So we are happy to announce we will be playing with Castle (Prosthetic Records) on their upcoming Doomed from the Womb tour. Also playing are our friends Heavy Temple.
We will be sharing the stage with Die Choking at their record release show at Boot and Saddle. The record sounds amazing. Also playing performing will be Organ Dealer from NJ. I had the pleasure of seeing these guys on their tour this past summer and they fucking rip it up.
So we played a top secret show at our little spot called the Shred Shed with Pharaoh, Strange Nights and BearStorm and were lucky enough to have a friend Jeremy Quattlebaum get some pics and a video as well. We will be posting the video down the line.
From our bud Fred over at FTG Illustrations will be at our upcoming show at the Shred Shed!
We would like to officially welcome JT Wieme (Drums) and Josh Mustin (Guitar) into the Surgeon family. We have been working with these quality dudes for the past couple months on developing a whole new set and album of songs we will be releasing later this year. STAY TUNED!

http://www.beowolfproductions.com/Surgeon-ChemicalReign.html Philadelphia has been home to a lot of killer underground Punk, Hardcore, Thrash & DeathMetal bands over the years, but not Progressive Metal bands. Well, SURGEON will be the first band on that list to start this Progressive Metal wave in the Philadelphia area. Theseguys have been around for a few years, but are just starting to get some of the recognition they deserve. They play a combination Progressive style of music. You can hear a lot ofThrash Metal withing their sound, especially in the faster guitar parts. They also mix in alot of Hard Rock, Prog Rock and even some Doom & Traditional Heavy Metal as well. The song arrangements is where a lot of the late ’70’s Prog Rock comes into play, while themore modern Hard Rock is present in the sound. The Doom elements are present in […]
From the Metal Bulletin Surgeon (U.S.): “Chemical Reign” Surgeon plays traditional, melodic prog heavy metal. Thus, Surgeon does not use “extreme” metal as a significant component of what they do. This is where you go when you want traditional singing, guitar-hero finger-twisting, heavy metal and semi-thrashy riffs, and a tight bass guitar-and-drum backbeat. Expect playing of a high quality, and a serious approach to metal. The songs are catchy, but not “super melodic” or “poppy” sing-along style, because Surgeon doesn’t play that game of pandering to the audience that wants “easy songs.” It does take time for the “proggy” to sound “musical,” but it is not very difficult to understand for the willing listener.Without having investigated it, I simply got the impression that Surgeon might be on Sensory Records, which, as prog fans know, is a premier place for prog […]
From our recent tour. The Metal Buda!
Tour was fun, We had such a blast on our recently past voyage we cant wait to get back out again. Here are some stand out shots aka our little slide show. From our visit to the Providence State house. As serious as ever. Hanging at Bancroft Tower in Worcester MA Here we are hanging at Chuang Yen Manastery In Carmel NY
Philadelphia metal band Surgeon’s music is an ominous thunderstorm. It doesn’t come down on the listener all at once, but rather, encroaches across the darkening sky, dropping a few bits of rain on your face, then a few more, until suddenly you are drenched in a torrent you knew was coming, but is still surprising when it catches you. There’s a classic metal feel about songs such as “Waves” and “Deadly Are the Words,” harkening back to the Judas Priest era, and the crisp and stentorian vocals give each song both clarity and power. Surgeon performs for Metal Thursday with Freedom’s Reign, Protean Collective and Lore at 9 p.m. Aug. 22 at Ralph’s Chadwick Square Diner, 148 Grove St., Worcester. $7. (Victor D. Now I’m not saying that what Philly’s Surgeon have come up with here is as awesome as the them music to the A-Team. Not in the slightest. But the way that tune combines disparate militaristic feel with humable orchestrated melodies is analogous to how this proggy collective combines the oft-impenetrable, old-school trundle of Slough Feg with the Jovial thrash of Ghoul
